SWIMMING & YACHTING

You might have noticed by now that the lagoon is the center of most activities in Langebaan and that is to be expected with such a beautiful stretch of calm water and white sandy beaches.

In this particular post, we are going to have a final look at the type of entertainment that concerns the lagoon. In the following posts, we’ll take you to dry land, but water babies don’t have to worry. There are going to be posts about the water again later. For now, we’ll have to conclude with this, otherwise “10 fun things” could turn into “20 fun things” 😊.

SWIMMING (or just relaxing at the beach):

On hot summer days, tourists will flock to the beaches of Langebaan early in the morning. On such days, the long sandy beaches at the lagoon are filled with colourful sun umbrellas and gazebos, meaning fun times with family and friends.

As mentioned before, the lagoon is ideal for safe swimming. The water is shallow and has no currents. You’ll find a number of great restaurants within walking distance, as well as coffee and curio shops.

YACHTING:

The Langebaan Yacht Club is on the edge of the lagoon and provides recreational amenities for members (like boating, sailing, kayaking, etc.) You will also find a lovely Marina at Club Mykonos Resort with walk-on moorings for all manner of watercraft (yachts, ski boats, rubber ducks, etc.).

Another popular spot to launch boats and rubber ducks is near the main beach, called “The Paaltjies”. It can get quite busy here during the peak holiday season.
