Sunset at the West Coast of South Africa
Back in May 2016 we bought our little off-roader, a Suzuki Jimny. We barely had it for two weeks before we decided to go wild camping with our new car. And what better place than to find the way along our beloved West Coast.
This photo was taken on the third night of our trip. The closest town – Lutzville – is 67km (41 miles) from this wild camping spot! After pitching our tent and making a fire, we sat down and watched the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean. We then knew it was going to be a great trip.

Beautiful sunset! That beach seems to beg for beachcombing (in better light).

Thanks John. Yes, I have to admit, the sunsets on the West Coast are truly magical. We enjoyed a long walk on that beach the next morning – it stretches quite a few kilometers.

A lovely sunset, Corna. As we move decidedly into winter here in Georgia, I’m thinking scenes like this are well and truly over for at least 2-3 months. Maybe we’ll relocate to a warmer climate in the new year 😉

Sunsets over the ocean are such magical moments. Oh, if I were you, I would definitely move to warmer weather if at all possible (2-3 months are a very long time)!

Afgebaken? Nee, dis ‘n lang strook langs die Weskus wat ‘oop’ is vir wild camping … nie oral nie, maar as jy die omgewing ken, sal jy die plekke kry. Is dit veilig? Dit was nog altyd terwyl ons daar gekamp het – maar dit kan seker ook verander (sal jammer wees).

‘n Ou kleine dorpie, maar die omgewing is pragtig! Berto was daar vir twee jaar in die laerskool … en soos jy kan sien, is die see net ‘n klipgooi ver!

A friend of ours in Colorado had a Suzuki that he drove all over the place- mountains roads and big rocks, too! They seem to be great vehicles. Beautiful throw back. Love sunsets.

It’s a great 4×4 vehicle (not very fast, but definitely willing to go to places where you won’t find your ‘normal’ car). Thank you, when we’re camping next to the ocean this is definitely one of the best times of the day!
