West Coast Farm Stall (Yzerfontein)
This will be our last post on our Weekend Getaway. It’s amazing how fully packed a weekend can be … and it only ended when we arrived home … with a lovely lunch stop at our favourite farm stall, the West Coast Farm Stall.
Where is the West Coast Farm Stall?
The West Coast Farm Stall is situated on the West Coast Road (R27) and about 100km from Cape Town. It’s close to the small seaside town of Yzerfontein and a popular pitstop for travellers.

There is a restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast/lunch inside or outside, a big playing area for children and on your way out there is a shop with freshly baked products (such as bread, rusks and cookies), as well as preserves, handmade gifts and wine.

Except for the restaurant and gift shop, there are also a variety of birds and other farm animals that one can visit while taking a casual stroll through the gardens.

I’m sure the playing area are very popular with children. While mom and dad enjoy their meal, children can get rid of their ‘excess energy’ here!

According to the West Coast Farm Stall, their pies are the best in the country. So, we had to try these in order to make a decision (we enjoyed many pies on our recent road trip to the East/North Coast of South Africa) … whether they are the best, is maybe debatable … but they are definitely among the top three!

And then, on our way out after enjoying a delicious lunch, we strolled through the gift shop. It’s very possible that you will walk out with one or two (or more) items to enjoy at home later.

We hope you have enjoyed our Weekend Getaway posts … and that maybe, you will have the opportunity yourself to visit one of these venues soon!
Ahhh, ons was so lanklaas daar, Corna! Hulle vis en skyfies is ook ongelooflik lekker. Dit lyk my dit het so bietjie verander daar, Sal net eenvoudig moet gaan kyk!

Thanks Hannah 🌸. This was a great weekend – I was actually exhausted after all the dining (and wining 😉). Oh yes, I always find these artwork so unique … amazing what you can do with old (unused) items and then change it into something new and original.

You’re absolutely right, it’s one of those places where no one would feel bored or neglected 😄. It’s always great to pop in here on our way to Cape Town (or on our way back home).

I seldom drink coffee these days, but that latte looks good! And your pie. I never feel hungry till I read your posts! Wouldn’t say no to a drop of wine, either!

You know, I’ also not a big coffee drinker (rather give me a cup of Rooibos tea) … but when I’m visiting a farm stall, I always drink a latte. Wednesday evenings is braai evenings here at our house, which mean a glass of wine next to the fire would be welcome 😉.

So many nice details in this post Corna, from coffee, parrots and camera-friendly goats to the plentiful artsy bits peppered throughout. I’d definitely try one of those pies. Oh, and the chocolate toffee of course! What a weekend you had, packed indeed.

Thanks Leighton, this is one of those farm stalls you just cannot miss on a trip (doesn’t matter whether you’re in a hurry to get to Cape Town or back home). Between you and me … I bought a packet of that chocolate toffee 😉 (no, I’m lying … I bought two)!

Bobotie is a traditional South African dish – and I LOVE it! It’s got wonderful spices in and is so easy to make!
Rosie, thanks once again for taking an interest in our weekend getaway … I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Our next post will be about camping (yet again) and all the amazing food we made there.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your week – hope Germany is getting warmer and you’re getting ready for summer time 🌞.
