WEEK 1

I’m not very good with these challenges on WordPress … but when Nilla (Image Earth Travel) nominated us for the Weekly Photo Challenge, I was very excited … like Nilla said “what else is there to do during the Covid-19 lockdown”?
Feel free to join in this photo challenge (everyone’s welcome). Show me your best photos, but let’s make this tricky to guess where the photos are taken.
If you participate in this photo challenge, this is what you need to do:
- Post one of your favourite photos each week for a month (and it does not matter if you go into September).
- The photo can be from any time and anywhere, so start sifting through those old memories and photo albums.
- Post the photo without any explanation and ask your readers where they think the photo was taken for a little guessing fun.
- Nominate someone each Sunday. Today, we nominate Aletta (nowathome) for this challenge – she’s got some serious beautiful photos and you will find her blog puts you in an instant good mood. You can post wherever you wish although please link to us, so we know you accepted the #photochallenge. If you are not interested, then that is also cool and feel free to share this challenge.
Our first photo challenge is probably not that difficult … but let us know if you know where it is 😁.

Sydney, Australia?

John … you are pretty close … but not there 100%. Let’s see what the other readers say …

A fun challenge – I did a similar one last year, but that was a photo a day for ten days! I wonder if your photo is of Toronto, looking at the city on the skyline?

I love these photo challenges! I’ve also done the 10-day photo challenge last year (and do remember your photo’s from that challenge!)
Not Toronto … but if I haven’t been to this specific place, I would probably also guess Toronto 😉. Let’s hang on for a bit to see if anyone else would know …

Could it be Seattle, seen from one of the islands?

Nope, not Seattle either (but I would love to visit Seattle 😊). Look further down the comments … it will be revealed in a moment!

Ah yes, I see it below – I would never have guessed, not having been there! Well done for puzzling me so thoroughly 🙂

I hope to see you do this challenge as well … but I’m afraid, since you’ve been to so many places, I will be bad at guessing any of your photo’s – you’ve got such a wide (and beautiful) variety 😁!

I think I’ll pass on this, having dome something so similar recently 😆

Beautiful picture. It does look a lot like Toronto because the CN Tower looking building, but the houses on Toronto Island definitely don’t look like that. Hmm. I really have no idea!

Thank you! I’ve seen Toronto on photo’s before and like I’ve said, if I didn’t took this photo myself I would also thought to give Toronto as the possible answer … but … someone just guessed it right … have a look further down in the comments 😉.

Hmm…never been there but is it Auckland?

👏👏 … Carolyn, you’ve just proven with age comes wisdom! Yes, it is indeed Auckland … the photo was taken from Devonport on our hike of the North Head (one of the dormant volcanoes).
If I could, I would have sent you a typical gift from South Africa … I know you don’t drink, but a bottle sparkling grape juice made locally would have been the ideal gift for you!

Hah that’s funny, Grant was just talking about that drink yesterday!

What a beautiful photo – I thought it was somewhere in America but it was Auckland! Wow.

Thank you – much appreciated!
Yes, we were lucky with this shot as it was quite foggy when we’ve started to walk up the dormant volcano and when we’ve got to the top, the sun was shining and we could see Auckland 😊.

Thank you – love this challenge … a fun way of learning more about the destinations in our world! I’ve thought the Sky Tower in Auckland would have been the dead giveaway … 😉.

Thank you Christie! Yes, New Zealand is a beautiful country … we’ve spent 4 months there and always enjoyed seeing Auckland from another town or from the ocean – I think on this day we were particular happy to get the photo because it was quite foggy earlier that morning. Like you’ve said, it is a fun challenge! Have a great day too 🌸.
