No visit to Langebaan is complete if you haven’t strolled along the beach. It was very appropriate to end 2023 by going for a walk along the lovely Langebaan lagoon. A mojito and beautiful sunset ended the year perfectly.

On our visit earlier in the day, we saw quite a few kite surfers frolicking on the lagoon. This time of year, kite surfers come from all over the world to enjoy the perfect kite surfing conditions in Langebaan. When walking on the beach, it is therefore no surprise to hear English, German, Dutch, Polish and several other languages within just a few hundred meters.

While lessons are offered to beginners, there are also quite a few of these kite surfers who are very good and they always entertain the beachgoers with their speed and tricks.

There are so many activities on the lagoon during the summer months. Apart from the kite surfers going back and forth through the water, there are constantly boats out on the lagoon – either to catch fish or just to have fun. People on kayaks also regularly paddle on the lagoon. It was great to check out all these activities while we went for a late afternoon stroll.

By early evening most of the water activities had come to an end. There were still a few sailing boats on the lagoon, but the kite surfers were busy packing up and boats were taken out of the water.

With our feet still full of sea sand, we found an open table at RocXiBeach Restaurant where we enjoyed cocktails and beers as the last rays of the sun of 2023 disappeared.

We watched in awe as the sky changed colour as the sun set. It was time to end the year with a β€˜braai’ while surrounded by family and friends. We looked back with gratitude at 2023 – a year with many challenges, but one that we conquered through His grace.
